Double Dark Chocolate Scones

Ingredients

Dry Ingredients

  • 1 3/4 cups AP flour
  • 1/4 cup Cocoa powder
  • 2 1/2 tsp Baking powder
  • 1/4 cup Sugar
  • 1 tsp Salt - coarse

Everything else

  • 6 Tbsp Unsalted butter - cold, chopped or grated
  • 2/3 cup Dark chocolate - chunks or chips
  • 1 Egg - large
  • 1 cup Whipping cream
  • 1/2 tsp Vanilla

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 425 F.
  • Stir together dry ingredients in a stand mixer.
  • Stir in butter until crumbly.
  • In a medium bowl, whisk together egg, cream, and vanilla.
  • Stir chocolate into dry mix.
  • Stir in liquid until a slightly dry dough forms.
  • Knead on a floured surface.
  • Press into two discs about 3/4 to 1 inch thick.
  • Cut each disc into 6 triangles.
  • Bake on parchment 1 inch apart for 14 minutes.

Notes

Can top scones with powdered sugar, white chocolate glaze, etc.
